District 9 is a movie that took me to a different time and place. This was partly because of the hyper realistic motion capture effects and use of documentary style footage that grounded the film in reality. Another thing that made this film so real for me was the choice in the plotline of using Johannesburg as the setting instead of some other more major city. Overall, this film took me away from my own reality and put me in another extremely believable one.
I have never liked black and white films. I like to watch my movies in color because i enjoy the visual aspect of movies more than the story. Movies that use black and white for an artistic standpoint don't appeal to me. However, i don't mind movies that are in black and white because there was no color film available at the time.movies and books have verY SimILar traits, yet books can add a lot more depth to stories and characters. In movies, more tim has to be spent on character DEVELOPMENT because the AUDIENCE can only se the external side of the character such as what they door say. In books, however, we are able to dive into what each character is thinking, allowing for more character development. The only time we can know what characters in movies are thinking if there is some sort of NARRATOR that explains their own or another's thoughts. |
